Sponsorship Deal Adds Shine to the BRC

Gloss Fuel are proud to announce that we are an official sponsor of the first round of the 2024 Probite British Rally Championship - The Legend Fires North West Stages

The motorsport mad team behind Gloss Fuel are delighted and proud to announce that Gloss Fuel are an official sponsor of the first round of the 2024 Probite British Rally Championship - The Legend Fires North West Stages

This exciting closed road stage rally takes place on the 22nd and 23rd of March 2024, starting from the Lancashire town of Garstang - the World's FIRST Fair Trade Town. After departing the opening ceremony in the town centre, 130 rally cars and crews will tackle 10 special stages, timed to the tenth of a second, which take in some of the most scenic and demanding lanes in Lancashire.

The event attracts not only the best drivers in the United Kingdom, but the best drivers from around the world. When the event last took place in 2022, the eventual winner was FIA European Rally Champion, Chris Ingram. Two years ago Chris was driving a Škoda Fabia Rally2 car and took the winners laurels with a stunning performance, claiming fastest stage times on all but two of the tests.

Primetime TV Coverage

Adding extra shine to the rally was the recent announcement that the British Rally Championship has signed a multi-year deal with ITV4 and ITVX to broadcast the six-round series across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. This deal will include a dedicated one-hour highlights show on ITV4 after each round of the series, to be broadcast at prime time, with further repeat broadcasts and an end of season round-up programme.

Commenting on the sponsorship deal, Gloss Fuel co-founder Bert Redfern said: "Both Quentin and I have been motorsport mad since childhood and both of us are true rally anoraks. Being able to support our local event was an unmissable opportunity. We can't wait to join the thousands of spectators who visit Lancashire, for what is the biggest and best motorsport event in the North of England, possibly the best in the country!"

Sustainability in Motorsport

In 2022, the World Rally Championship completely overhauled its technical framework for its leading Rally1 category. Based on the forecast that hybrid cars will make up a third of global car sales by 2030, the current Rally1 cars are powered by a combination of a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 380bhp and an electric unit delivering an extra 100kW (133bhp). Thus they can drive with clean electric power only.

Since the start of the 2022 season, fossil-free based fuel is used by each car in the WRC. This fuel complies with all quality standards for competition fuels as well as automakers’ requirements for road car fuel. These fuels are also used in the British Rally Championship making rallying one of the most sustainable motorsports in the world.

However the organisers of the Legend Fires North West Stages are going even further in their push for sustainability. In previous years, the rally has offset carbon emissions via an international Carbon Positive scheme. For 2024, the organisers have opted to support a number of local carbon offset schemes, so the investment stays local to the event.

Gloss Fuel offer a truly authentic, affordable and effective suite of products, which have sustainability at the fore and a lower impact on the environment. Supporting the Community

During the history of the North West Stages Rally, the event has raised over £150,000 for various local charities, groups and organisations. This commitment to give back to the communities along the rally route continues in 2024.

Gloss Fuel co-founder Quentin James said: "Chris Ingram has graduated to the World Rally Championship but he's coming back to defend his 2022 win on this, his local event. A host of other big name drivers and former British Champions are set to battle for victory on the Lancashire lanes. I learned to drive on some of these roads and have previously competed on the rally, so I know exactly how tough the challenge will be. March 22nd can't come soon enough!"
