If you’re sick and tired of sitting in a grubby, grimy car for hour after hour, then you need to detail your car’s interior. Interior plastic and trim quickly accumulates dust, dirt and grime. But never fear, Meguiar’s and Gloss Fuel are here with their safe, effective, all-surface car interior detailing products and interior car cleaners. In this article, we put the USA’s favourite dash cleaner to the test against the new Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer from the UK.
Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer 'vs' Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer
Meguiars
Founded over a century ago as a furniture polish maker, Meguiar’s evolved alongside the rise of the automobile. Frank Meguiar Jr. repurposed his wood polish for early cars, protecting their wooden components and laying the foundation for a legacy in automotive care.
As cars advanced, so did Meguiar’s. Its Mirror Glaze line became a staple in body shops, dealerships, and among car manufacturers. With the growing popularity of car shows, Meguiar’s high-gloss finishes became synonymous with show-winning shine.
As Barry Meguiar, Frank’s grandson, puts it: “We’re car guys in the car wax business.” Today, Meguiar’s continues to fuel a passion for detailing, trusted by enthusiasts and professionals worldwide.

Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer Overview
How to Use Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer
Prior to using any liquid chemicals on the interior of your car, we always recommend using an air compressor to blow out any loose debris from hard to reach areas. Follow this by vacuuming up the loose dirt and debris from seats, door pockets and carpets. Always using the crevice tool and brush attachments on your vacuum carefully.
Before using Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer, gently shake the bottle to mix the chemicals. Mixing the chemicals will help you to achieve the best results when using the product.
How to Use Dash Detailer – Option 1
You can use the product in one of two ways. One option is to spray the Dash Detailer directly onto the surface which is to be cleaned. Then wipe over the area with a clean microfibre cloth. Flip the towel to a dry side, then buff the area until dry. If the surface you’re cleaning is particularly dirty, allow the product to sit for a moment or two before wiping.
How to Use Dash Detailer – Option 2
The other option is to spray the product onto a clean microfibre towel or mitt, then wipe the area to be cleaned. Again, flip the towel to a dry side, or use a second dry towel, and buff the area until dry.
Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer is designed to be safe to use on all interior surfaces including:
- interior plastics
- high gloss piano black trim
- vinyl trim
- leather
- rubber
- metal trim
- carbon fibre
- LCD infotainment screens
When using Dash Detailer on delicate surfaces, like high gloss piano black trim, spray the product onto a microfibre cloth first. The same advice applies to cleaning electronic control panels with buttons and switches, or LCD screens. This method prevents liquids from getting into the electronics and adds lubrication to help avoid marring delicate trim.
Ease of Application of Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer
Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer is super simple to use. Simply spray on and wipe off. We'd always avoid using any chemicals on hot surfaces or in high temperatures, but we've had no issues with streaking or unwanted residue.
For more textured plastic surfaces, we've used this cleaner with microfibre scrubber pads for a deeper clean. The scrubber pads help to work the Dash Detailer into the texture of the plastic more thoroughly and this combination really delivers great results.
Benefits of Using Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer
Just like the product from the USA, the Gloss Fuel Dash Detailer can be used on any surface, leaving behind no streaking or high gloss shine. The Gloss Fuel Dash Detailer cleans effectively, has a mild, fresh citrus berry fragrance and leaves behind a matt/satin OEM finish. It's a versatile, effective all-rounder that should be on every drivers detailing shelf.
Value for Money of Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer
The Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer costs £8.00 for a 500ml bottle. Similar to the Meguiars Quik Detailer, to clean an average sized vehicle interior will use 15-20ml. That puts the cost per use at just £0.30 which represents fantastic value for money.
Cons of Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer
It's hard to think of any cons of this product. It works well, smells nice and is excellent value for money. If you're not a fan of citrus and/or berry fragrances, then this might not be the product for you.
Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer Overview
Ease of Application of Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer
We always advise working one area at a time. Mist two or three sprays onto a clean, dry microfibre towel or spray directly onto interior trim panels. Where necessary, allow the product to dwell for a few moments. Then wipe over with your microfibre towel to clean. Flip the towel to a dry side, or use a fresh towel, then buff until dry.
Benefits of Using Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer
Meguiar’s Interior Quik Detailer is versatile and effective. It safely cleans interior plastics and trim, vinyl, leather, rubber, metal, and even LCD touch screens, gauge screens and navigation screens.
Quik Interior Detailer does not leave behind a slick, shiny look and feel. Instead, it gives cleansed surfaces an OEM matt finish with a pleasant, fresh scent. As well as being an effective, mild cleaner, Quik also contains UV protection, helping to preserve the original appearance of your interior trim.
Because Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner is safe to use on so many different surfaces, it’s ideal for both amateurs and professional detailers. The high lubricity formula quickly lifts dirt, dust and grime, leaving a clean, matt finish.
Value for Money of Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer
A typical consumer will purchase a 473ml/16oz trigger spray bottle, which costs around £13.00.
The average sized car dash will need 3 or 4 sprays of product for a light cleanse. Door cards generally require 2 to 3 sprays whilst centre consoles often only need a couple of squirts. All things considered, cleaning the interior of an average sized car will take about 15-20ml of product which equates to £0.55 per clean.
Meguiar’s Quik Interior Detailer spray is decent good value for money, for a pre-mixed, ready-to-use interior dash cleaner with UV protection. It is available in both 473ml/16oz trigger spray bottle and a larger 3785ml/1 US gallon trade container.
Cons of Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer
Like the Gloss Fuel Dash Detailer, there aren't really many cons. The fragrance might not be to your taste and it's not the most cost effective interior cleaner spray, but as interior cleaners go, it works well.
Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer or Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer: Which should you choose?
One thing I hate as both a detailer, and driver, is a shiny dash. The reflections and glare that a shiny dash can cause is a distraction, and at times dangerous. That’s why I love Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer – it cleans leaving a matt finish and I LOVE the scent.
Gloss Fuel has a, clean, fresh berry scent which, if not to your taste, dissipates over time. The main reason to buy this product is its versatility. You can use it on almost every interior surface. It won’t clean your carpets and I’d not use it on glass but for everything else – you’re covered!
To my shame, I often neglect the interior of my own car, focusing far too much time on the exterior. That’s why I keep a bottle of Gloss Fuel Interior Dash Detailer and a couple of microfibre towels in the car. When I’m stuck in traffic or waiting at a red light, I can spritz the dash and wipe. Centre stack looking a bit dusty – no problem – spray and wipe.
