Gloss Fuel
Gloss Fuel was founded by two lifelong friends brought together by their shared love of rallying - the fast-paced, high-adrenaline motorsport where cars push the limits on loose gravel roads, often finishing caked in dirt. That passion for motorsport soon led to another shared interest: cleaning and detailing those cars - whether their own or the occasional rally car.
With their combined expertise, the foundation for Gloss Fuel was set. Bertie, with a background in automotive engineering, brings deep technical knowledge and practical insight. Quentin contributes over 25 years of experience in automotive graphic design and marketing, having worked with a Formula 1 team and numerous rally events, teams, and championships throughout his career.
United by their passion for car care and detailing, the pair also recognised a growing concern: the lack of environmental responsibility in the car care industry. While other industries were moving toward sustainable solutions, detailing remained heavily reliant on single-use plastics. Gloss Fuel aims to change that, with the introduction of eco-conscious innovations like their Refuel Packs, designed to significantly reduce plastic waste.
In a market crowded with white-labeled and rebranded products - often from the same handful of chemical suppliers - Gloss Fuel chose a different path. They partnered with a family-owned chemical manufacturer with decades of experience in formulating high-quality cleaning products. Collaborating directly with the company's lead chemist, who is also a detailing enthusiast, they developed a bespoke product line crafted from the ground up, rather than off the shelf.
Whether you’re a weekend car care warrior, a seasoned enthusiast, or a professional detailer, the Gloss Fuel range is designed to deliver premium performance while keeping environmental impact in check. If you're seeking an authentic, effective, and sustainable detailing system, give Gloss Fuel a try - then reuse, refill, and refuel with our eco-friendly Refuel Packs.
Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo Overview
How to Use Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo
In this article we will explore the two ways to use your chosen car shampoo:
- Dilute it in a bucket and use like a regular car shampoo.
- Spray the product on the car with your foam lance.
Diluted in a Wash Bucket
The first way to use your preferred car soap is to simply use it like a regular car shampoo. Dilute accordingly in a bucket with warm water.
Add about 20ml-30ml into your bucket. Then add 10-15 litres litres of warm water. Warm water will improve the cleaning ability of the car shampoo.
In order to boost the suds, place the tip of your pressure washer lance or garden hose below the water line in your bucket. Then spray a jet of water into the bucket to create more suds.
Sprayed on with Snow Foam Lance
The second way to use your shampoo is by applying it with a snow foam cannon.
Mix 20ml of car soap with 400ml warm water in your snow foam cannon. Then spray the car with the soap mixture. Use all of the mixture in your snow foam lance on the car. Carefully wash each panel, one at a time, working around the car from top to bottom. Rinse your wash mitt in a bucket of clean water after each panel. Make sure to wring out your wash mitt before washing the next panel.
Thoroughly rinse the product residue off the car. Make sure to rinse the car immediately. Do not let the car soap mixture dry on the car and do not use this product on hot panels, or in direct sunlight. If you’re worried about the car soap drying on the panels, rinse each panel immediately after washing.
Ensure that you properly flush your foam cannon with warm water following this application method. Soaps containing SiO2 ingredients could damage or block your foam cannon if allowed to dwell and dry.
Ease of use of Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo
Gloss Fuel car shampoo is super simple to use. As detailed above, it can be diluted in a bucket, as is typical, or applied via a snow foam lance. We prefer to use it with a high quality Microfibre Wash Mitt but will work equally well with a lambs wool mitt or sponge.
Benefits of using Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo
Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo is a fantastic pH neutral car shampoo. It is super slick and super sudsy. Being a traditional polymer based shampoo, the thick, lubricious suds are extremely stable. A quick blast with your pressure washer will foam up your bucket for the entitreity of the two bucket wash.
The shampoo solution is very slick and has good cleaning ability. The wash mitt glides across the paintwork and this lubrication helps to avoid inflicting wash-marring and swirls. The sweet marzipan fragrance adds to the wash experience.
Whilst the shampoo doesn't leave behind 'protection', it does leave behind gloss enhancers and this product works exceptionally well with the other two gloss enhancing wash products in the Gloss Fuel range.
Value for money of Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo
A 500ml bottle of the Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo costs £12.00 with around 25ml required for a single wash. This puts the cost per wash at around £0.60, with the cost per wash from a 1000ml Refuel Pack being just £0.40 - amazing value for money.
Cons of Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo
This shampoo isn't ideally suited to ceramic coated cars, or those with matt/satin paint or wraps. Whilst the shampoo won't damage either, there are better alternatives for these coated/wrapped vehicles.
Gyeon Q²M Bathe+ Overview
Ease of use of Gyeon Q²M Bathe Plus
Bathe+ is an easy to use and versatile Gyeon soap. Being able to use it just like a regular car shampoo means it is both simple and familiar. Having the option to apply it directly or with a foam lance makes it super convenient and flexible.
No matter how you choose to use Gyeon Bathe+, you will see the water behaviour on treated panels change dramatically. Paintwork, trim and glass washed with Gyeon Q²M Bathe Plus becomes very hydrophobic. Water is repelled from the panel and the little that remains will bead dramatically, making drying with a towel or warm air car dryer, a simple job.
Benefits of Using Gyeon Q²M Bathe+ SiO2 Car Shampoo
Not only does Gyeon Q2M Bathe Plus do a great job of cleaning your paintwork, it adds instant hydrophobicity thanks to its ceramic ingredient. Gyeon claim that washing your car with Q²M Bathe+ offers both protection and genuine ‘self-cleaning’ properties.
It’s the perfect product to help cleanse and maintain, boost or top-up, any existing ceramic coating. You can use Gyeon Bathe+ on top of ceramic coatings and it’s perfectly paired with any of Gyeon’s own ceramic coating products, as well as those ceramic coatings offered by rival brands.
Gyeon Bathe+ can be used on both ceramic coated vehicles and uncoated vehicles. Being able to wash an uncoated car with Bathe+, leaving behind a layer of protection, is a huge benefit. It saves time, effort and the need to use any other Last Stage Protection (LSP) products.
Gyeon Bathe Plus can be used with some of the other Gyeon ceramic infused products. This shampoo is a perfect companion to the Gyeon Ceramic Detailer.
Value for money of Gyeon Q²M Bathe+
Gyeon Q²M Bathe+ car soap is not the cheapest car shampoo on the market. Expect to pay around £22.00 for the 400ml bottle and £33.00 for the 1000ml offering. The cost of one wash, based on using 20ml of product, is around £1.10 per application - nearly double that of the Gloss Fuel car shampoo.
Cons of Gyeon Gyeon Q²M Bathe+ Ceramic Car Shampoo
If you enjoy the contact wash process, then this shampoo might not be for you. Due to the fact that the shampoo contains SiO2 chemicals, the foam is not stable. Within seconds of you foaming up your mixture, the suds disappear. You end up washing your car with an odd mixture of 'slick water' which is off-putting to say the least. We found it a deeply disappointing experience.
Additionally we have noticed issues with bottles stored over an extended period of time. The gel-like liquid turned to a more solid gel over time and we ended up disposing of the bottle which was only two thirds empty.
Gyeon Q²M Bathe+ or Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo: Which should you choose?
If you have a ceramic coated vehicle and can get past the foam-free wash experience, then this shampoo is a good option to 'top-up' the previously applied ceramic protection. But as a standalone shampoo, for regular use, we found it lacking.
Gloss Fuel Gloss Enhancing Shampoo doesn't suffer from any of the issues that the Gyeon shampoo is cursed with. The Gloss Fuel shampoo is slick, sweet smelling and super-sudsy. The contact wash process is enjoyable and effective. The gloss enhancers really do leave the appearance of your car noticeably improved.
